Community & Family Connection
The Community and Family Connection Officer aims to connect school refusal and at-risk students with options to improve their educational outcomes and skills by providing a case management approach to reignite their purpose to attend and find success at school. It is the connection point for parents/caregivers to open a conversation that is safe and non-judgmental about their child/children regarding school attendance.
- Provide support to families to re-engage with school for their children.
- Provide support to the student to help them re-engage with school.
- To work with the Leadership team to ensure accountability around school attendance.
- Seek opportunities both within the Ryan Catholic College system or outside it that may keep students engaged with education.
- Engage outside agents where necessary to help find an appropriate pathway for disengaged students.
- To provide a safe, caring environment for both parents and students to discuss issues affecting school attendance.
Our College Community and Family Connection Officer is Lyall Herlihy and he can be contacted via the main office.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and waters, the Wulgurukaba, and that this country has been a place of learning and ceremony for tens of thousands of years. We also acknowledge the neighbouring language groups as brothers and sisters of the land. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. May we walk gently and peacefully on this land together.
